“This book is unique because of its content and style of writing. Once you start reading, it captivates you and you don?t want to keep it down. The best thing about this book is the balance between theory and practical examples. It has enough theoretical discourse which is further highlighted by numerous practical examples, thus, making it easier for the readers to understand the difficult concepts. The language of the book is such that it motivates the reader to practice the skills and competencies learnt from this book. This book is useful for the students of B Ed as well as teachers who have been in the profession for long. It will certainly help a teacher to become a better teacher.”

Modern educationists stress the importance of core teaching skills that must be learnt by student-teachers. If the core skills are learnt by them, they can learn on their own the other general skills that help in the making of a proficient teacher.
This book is a study of various practices — both teacher-centred and pupil- centred — employed by teachers in the classroom in their roles as communicators of knowledge and as facilitators in the construction of knowledge by the pupils.
This source book for student-teachers is designed to cover the needs of all teacher-education programmes including B.Ed., B.El.Ed., B.T.C. and E.T.C. courses. It provides quality instructional material on skills of teaching and their application in techniques, methods and strategies of teaching.
