Description:
Comprehensive Life Sciences offers an updated understanding of modern life sciences while covering both classical and applied aspects of learning. It is designed to encompass the fundamental concepts of life sciences in two volumes (Volume I and Volume II). It meets the practical requirements of both undergraduate and postgraduate students across all disciplines of life sciences and medical science in India. This volume includes the following chapters: ‘Chemistry of Biomolecules’, ‘Metabolism of Substrates’, ‘Molecular Biology’, ‘Cell Biology’, ‘Developmental Biology’, ‘Diversity of Life’, and ‘Research Techniques in Biology’. Each chapter is equipped with an enriched theory followed by gradient-based (Level 1 and Level 2) practice problems with solutions. The book is written in lucid language to enable better understanding of difficult concepts. A separate chapter is included on research-based data analytical skills. At the end of the book two chapters are exclusively dedicated to research-based problems with solutions. The book puts forward a concise and smart approach to learning and will appeal to the learners of life sciences.

About the Editor:
Debasish Kar graduated in Physiology (H) from Midnapore College, West Bengal. He studied M.Sc. Biotechnology at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar followed by M.Tech. Biotechnology at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology). Later, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from IIT Kharagpur. Dr Kar has presented his research findings at many FEMS international conferences. Currently, Dr Kar is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru. His primary research area includes molecular characterization of beta-lactamases that cause bacterial resistance against broad-spectrum antibiotics - a threat to global medicine. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journaIs. Some of his book chapters have been published by Springer Nature and Cambridge Scholars Publishing. Dr Kar has penned a number of books on CSlR NET Life Sciences. He was also Editor-in-Chief of Bio Frontiers, India’s first bi-monthly magazine in biological sciences for CSlR NET aspirants. He is a life member of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology, the Indian Science Congress Association and the Society of Biological Chemists (India). Dr Kar is also a reviewer for Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, London.
